My Baby Shower
My baby shower was everything I wanted it to be and I was very specific when it came to the details! Even if I wasn’t the one planning it. My mom & MIL did all the work and they KILLED it!!! I was 33 weeks and really feeling the pregnancy symptoms at this point, so I was in no mood to plan a party.
It took place at Zavo… a Mediterranean restaurant in Midtown NYC. Before my shower, I had never heard of it but it was perfect. The private room was gorgeous and bright and the staff was very accommodating. We had about 50 women on a Sunday for brunch and I was very specific about the activities- which included no cheesy baby games and no opening gifts.(sharing my evite below for more deets)
I really wanted it to be a fun afternoon for everyone. I mean let’s be honest, the “guess how much my baby weighs” game isn’t something the crowd looks forward to. So, we hired a Lipstick Reader and a DIY Flower Bar! I thought interactive activities were unique and would get people out of their seats to get to know each other. I personally love meeting other women at these types of events where you might be going in solo.
Anyways, brunch was sit down style but wasn’t assigned seating. I wanted it to be a very relaxed feel and less formal. There were custom cookies on everyones plate and the table was decorated with flowers in the center and pink confetti. Everyone got to choose an entree and there were tons of picky things for the table including dips and salads- drinks were offered to the non pregos. After everyone finished their entrees, we began the activities. The DIY flower bar was so much fun and it was a way for everyone to take something home! The lipstick reader was also a really fun touch- basically, you put on lipstick and kiss a white card. Then, the reader tells you a fun fortune based on your kiss! The dessert bar was INSANE- you can see for yourself below. There was tons of pastries, cupcakes, macaroons, cake pops, rice crispy treats, a custom cake and cookies. Guests ended up taking some home! I also hired a photographer last minute and I highly recommend doing so! I was so busy catching up with everyone that I wouldn’t have had a chance to take any pics and having these to remember this day is so special.

What I wore:
NGL, dressing a 33 week bump isn’t easy. I wanted something pink and tight, because even though I felt like I was carrying a watermelon, everyone loves a pronounced baby bump. Also, comfort was v important for me. Specifically, I was searching for a midi stretchy dress and ended up loving the red/ orange one I’m wearing in my pics! I must have ordered and returned around 10 dresses before deciding on this one. Even though it was a little over the top for a Sunday afternoon, it was my party and I wanted to stand out. Dress is by Solace London.
