Santorini Travel Guide
Stay:
We stayed at Katikies (located in Oia), which I could not recommend enough! The location was incredible and the staff was the friendliest and most accommodating- Truly 5 star treatment! There are only 34 rooms in the entire hotel which are on the smaller side and are modeled after caves- very simple and white. The hotel is adult only with two infinity pools with the most breathtaking view. Breakfast is also included daily.
Canaves Oia Epitome: Also located in Oia, right above the quaint fishing town of Ammoudi- the luxury and private hotel has outstanding reviews and looks very lux. The small hotel has 18 rooms and has become the ideal hideaway for romantic couples and newlyweds.
Astra Suites: Perched atop the stunning volcanic cliffs of Santorini and resembling traditional Cycladic dwellings, the Astra Suites are situated in the peaceful village of Imerovigli. With panoramic vistas of the caldera and Aegean Sea, as well as unparalleled views of the famous Santorini sunset!
Eat:
Mikrasia: Located at the Katikies hotel -one of the best meals we had during our stay. The small restaurant only has six tables (reservation only) and the service is very personalized. The cuisine is upscale Greek and was incredible- highly recommend it.
Naos: One of the more upscale restaurants in Oia and a great date night spot. Cuisine: delicate dishes, inspired from the finest Mediterranean and Asian ingredients.
Ambrosia: Situated at the cliff top village of Oia and one of the best and most famous restaurants in Santorini. Enjoy a candlelight dinner on the panorama terrace overlooking the famous Caldera with a glass of local wine.
Sunset Ammoudi: A small restaurant with incredible, fresh fish! Go for lunch or to watch the sunset! Pro tip: walk down the stairs and enjoy the panoramic views to the small Ammoudi village, but definitely arrange a taxi to take you back- the stairs are intense.
To Psaraki: The best local meal we had and OMG the fish was the freshest we have ever had. It was about a 45 minute drive from our hotel, but is located across from the marina where we rented a boat, so we killed two birds with one stone-- but regardless this place is worth the drive. The tuna carpaccio was definitely a memorable dish!

Rent a boat or join a day cruise!
We rented a half day charter through our hotel which was so incredible, we did it a second time. It's about 4.5 hours and the captain takes you to all the small islands and volcanoes around Santorini. We swam, had rosé and ate a delicious Greek lunch. SO worth it, especially with a small group. You can also join a day cruise with other guests (a great way to meet other people) and do a similar tour!
Visit a winery!
Sanorini is known for it's winery's, so why not make a day trip out of it?! A wine tour booked through one of the island’s top wineries Santo Wines or Boutari is a great way to explore the island and learn about their delicious wines.
Take a hike!
The Fira-Oia Hike takes you along the caldera cliff and through the villages of Fira, Imerovigli, Firostefani and Oia. The hike takes between 2 - 5 hours depending on how fast you walk and how often you stop. We didn't get a chance to do this, but I can tell you that the stairs are no joke on this island- so wear good walking shoes and stay hydrated!
